Training

Courses that inspire and build the skills you need

Our Training Services

We understand that one of the most important elements of any successful organisation is motivated and skilled employees. We also know that when employees are well trained they feel more confident in their roles and are better able to support the beneficiaries, service users and customers you work with.

The BrightSparks team have been delivering training services across a wide range of subject areas for over 10 years. Most of our training is delivered either in one day courses or in short courses run over two, four or six week periods. However, we also work with clients to develop bespoke packages to suit their specific requirements. Our training courses cover a wide range of sectors including:

  • The Children's Workforce
  • Health and Social Care
  • Demonstrating Impact Through Research
  • Effective Commissioning and Procurement
  • Bid Writing and Fundraising
  • Business Development

In addition to group training for organisations, we also run open training sessions for your beneficiaries or members of the public to attend. From time to time we acquire funding to provide these courses free of charge. Wherever this is not possible, we offer competitive rates for attending our training sessions.

Working with Children and Young People

Course overview

Our Working with Children and Young People training course is an entry level programme that will provide a basic understanding of the principles for working with children and young people in the context of the children's workforce. The course is made up of four discrete units of learning;

  • Unit 1 - The Children's Workforce
  • Unit 2 - Managing Challenging Behaviour
  • Unit 3 - Dealing With Trauma and Attachment
  • Unit 4 - Essential Skills for Working with Children and Young People

Each unit is made up of five hours of learning, delivered in a relaxed, collaborative and informal manner by our trainers.

The course is available to be purchased by organisations for group training sessions (minimum five participants) or individuals can book a place on one of our scheduled training events  - dates and venues to be advised. The commissioner's guide to tendering

Course Overview

The team at BrightSparks has a strong background in public sector commissioning. Between us we have been involved in the commissioning and procurement of over £750m in public sector services. We have evaluated over 3,000 individual tenders from over 500 different organisations of all sizes from small start up charities to organisations such as Apple, Argos, Action For Children and Capita. This means that we know what the key ingredients are that make up a successful tender and we can tell you how to design a compelling tender.

The good news is that unlike other 'fit to tender' style training courses out there, that take you laboriously through the 'dull as dishwater' idiosyncrasies of the procurement cycle, we have condensed our training down into a short four hour course that gets straight to the point of giving you the '7 must do's' of tendering.

We also know that sometimes what people actually need is for someone with an independent eye to review what they have written. So we build in the opportunity after the training to reserve a 40 minute slot with one of our tender experts, so that we can give you some basic pointers on your tender and the confidence to go away and put our training into practice.

The course is available to be purchased by organisations for group training sessions (minimum five participants) or individuals can book a place on one of our scheduled training events that are delivered in various locations through the UK.
