Our Working with Children and Young People training course is an entry level programme that will provide a basic understanding of the principles for working with children and young people. The course is made up of four discrete units of learning, each of which can be purchased separately. Each unit consists of five hours of training over a single day (four days for all four units). As such, participants are free to book the four days of training either consecutively, or in blocks to suit their personal requirements and schedule. However, we would recommend that participants who wish to access all four units should do so over a period of no longer than six months in order to ensure continuity within the training themes.
We will provide you with all the knowledge and skills potential employers and organisations that work with children, young people and families will be looking for in their employees and volunteers. Our course is suited to those already in the children's workforce and those completely new to it, such as:
School support staff
Parents and carers
Those leaving the armed forces
Those looking to volunteer or gain employment in the charity sector
Those running community groups
Those looking to work in the childcare sector.
Unit 1 - The Children's Workforce

What employers working in this sector will be looking for in prospective employees and volunteers
The basics around the legislation and policy that affect all organisations and people working with children and young people
The practicalities of working with children, young people and families - communication, and understanding need and outcomes.
This unit provides the fundamental basics about working in the children's workforce. Participants attending the course will have a firm grasp of the different roles available to them, as well as an understanding of the key considerations when working with children, young people and families.
