BrightSparks Commissioned to Deliver Emotional Resilience Training to Year 6 Pupils, Parents and Carers in Selby

BrightSparks have been commissioned by Selby Big Local to deliver a four week programme of emotional resilience training to 60 year 6 pupils across three Primary Schools in Selby.

While year 6 can be a time of excitement for many children, it can also be a time of stress. SATs, the prospect of changing of schools and the possibility of moving away from friends can cause emotional stress to build in pupils.

The programme aims to support children to build their emotional resilience and increase their confidence and wellbeing using creative and engaging strategies, helping to prepare year 6 pupils for the transition to secondary school. This will take place in schools for one hour per week over four weeks.

Training for Parents & Carers

In addition to this, we will also be running sessions for the parents of those attending the programme to help share the learning from the pupils and support parents and carers to develop emotional resilience in children, young people and families. These sessions will be one hour per week and on completion parents will receive a certificate of attendance.

With thanks to Selby Big Local for funding the training.
