Launching in York – May 2025

Brightsparks CIC is proud to offer Resilience Triple P, a new, fully funded* 8 week programme supporting families of children aged 6–12 who live in York and have experienced bullying or difficulties with peer relationships.

What is Resilience Triple P?

Resilience Triple P is an evidence-based programme designed to give children and their parents practical skills to manage bullying and build positive peer relationships. Over 8 interactive sessions, families work together to boost confidence, emotional resilience, and social skills in a safe, supportive environment.

What to Expect

  • 4 Parent Sessions: Learn positive, supportive strategies to help your child thrive.

  • 4 Child Sessions (with parents present): Build social confidence and learn practical ways to manage peer challenges.

  • Game-Based Learning: Interactive activities that help children explore resilience in a fun way.

  • Sibling-Friendly Environment: Siblings aged 6 and over are welcome to join in!

Session Overview

📍 Location: The Gateway Centre, Front Street, Acomb, York, YO24 3BZ
📆 Start time and Date: 4pm - 6.30pm from Thursday 8th May 2025 (weekly sessions until 3rd July, break for May half term)
💸 Cost: Free – Fully funded by City of York Council (pilot scheme, limited spaces)


Session Breakdown

  • Week 1 - Parent session: Understanding Bullying – Parents reflect on the impact of bullying and set goals for positive change.

  • Week 2 - Parent and child session: Playing Well Together – Children learn how to build friendships through body language and play.

  • Week 3 - Parent session: Helping Children Develop – Parents explore strategies for encouraging new skills and boosting confidence.

  • Week 4 - Parent and child session: Responding to Mean Behaviour (Part 1) – Children practise calm, confident ways to respond to bullying.

  • Week 5 - Parent and child session: Responding to Mean Behaviour (Part 2) – More tools for tackling peer problems and cyberbullying.

  • Week 6 - Parent session: Managing Challenging Behaviour – Support for parents navigating conflict and behavioural issues.

  • Week 7: Parent and child session: Sorting Out Conflicts – Children develop conflict-resolution skills with guidance from parents.

  • Week 8: Parent session: Communicating with Schools and Adults – Parents learn how to collaborate with schools and other adults to address bullying.

 
 

Who Can Join?

This programme is designed for families of children who have experienced bullying or peer relationship difficulties. Research shows that children who take part in Resilience Triple P report:

✔️ Improved confidence and self-esteem
✔️ Better peer relationships and school experiences

Brightsparks CIC Staff

Brightsparks CIC is a trusted community organisation with a track record of supporting families through inclusive, research-led programmes. Our team brings compassion, experience, and energy to every session.

The programme will be led by accredited trainers - Katie Simpson, Director of Learning and Development and delivered by experienced and friendly tutors, Victoria Smith and Leanne Vickers who have extensive experience in supporting children and families.
